IWA returns to action 11/20 in Addison, IL « Thread Started on Nov 3, 2009, 1:14am »
Chapter 2: In The Beginning Friday night, November 20, 2009 Addison Park District Community Rec Center 120 E. Oak Street Addison, IL 60101 Tickets: $15 & $10 8 pm Belltime; Doors open 7:15 pm
All Ages Appropriate Show
If you are owed any refunds, you can use that refund towards tickets, dvds, tshirts, merchandise at this event. We are working on trying to get the money raised in order to pay back the money that is owed to our fans from TPI. I have been out trying to find a steady job and haven't landed anything yet after a couple of interviews. The best way that I know to raise money to pay back our fans is to start running smaller budget shows to get money coming in. Smart Mark money is way down without any new shows to sell. I realize that it is going to anger people that I'm doing shows again but it is the only way that I know to support my family. Hopefully you will bear with me and if you are local and owed money, come out and enjoy a free wrestling show. If you aren't owed money, pay to come out and see a fun show and some people that are owed money can get that money that they are owed.
Here is the partial lineup for this event:
Main Event
The Necro Butcher vs. 6'7" 400 lbs Osiris
This will be Osiris' debut in IWA Mid-South and he has been compared by some of the people whose opinion that I trust to a young One Man Gang. He is a big guy that can really move and has tremendous potential. We will see how that potential holds up when he steps into the ring with the hardcore icon and movie star Necro Butcher.
IWA Mid-South World Light Heavyweight Title Match
Jason Hades vs. Sal Thomaselli
Jason Hades has proven himself to be a future superstar in the world of professional wrestling. He has the body, the agility, the toughness and the work ethic to make it just like Matt Sydal did. He is going to be taking on one of his mentors and the #1 seed in the 2005 TPI (coincidentally won by Sydal) in Sal Thomaselli. Sal is finally 100% healthy and ready to reinsert himself as a major player in IWA Mid-South by becoming the Light Heavyweight Champion.
Light Heavyweight Title Contender Match
Prince Mustafa Ali vs. Ricochet
6 Man Tag Match
The Hooligans vs. The Soul Touchaz
Just added:
Ian Rotten vs. Dixieland Destroyer
Josh Raymond/Christian Able vs. Ryan Phoenix/Bucky Collins
At least 8 big matches in all.
Stay tuned to the message board for further information on this event.
Again, if you are owed refunds from TPI or the Anniversary show, you can put that towards tickets, dvds, merchandise at this event.
If you are out of towners, we haven't forgotten about you and we are trying our best to get you taken care of as soon as I can.
We hope to see a lot of the familiar faces and hopefully even some new ones as we attempt to run closer to the city, in a better neighborhood, with parking and see if we can't make a better go of this than we did in Joliet.

A little bird told me about this possibility on Halloween. I told everyone IWA wasn't done yet-let's put the FAMILY back together and stick it to the haters.
We're not fans, not staff, not workers....WE'RE FAMILY! We are not fans of sports entertainment, we are fans of the sport of professional wrestling-FUCK VINCE!!!! Beware of the Phoenix-don't get BURNED!

I knew there'd be some kind of announcement eventually... didn't expect it to be a show, though. Hopefully this organization can get back on their feet and regain the luster they once had.

I'm really not trying to kick someone when they're down. I just dont see how this ends well. For anybody concerned. If running shows is a money-losing business, as they said before, how do you raise money by running shows?
Most of the shows IWA was running for the past few years were "smaller budget shows", so that's not the key difference. From an outsider's perspective, it appears that you're doing the exact same thing and expecting a different result.
I mean, I hope the show is great and everybody gets the money they're owned and everything. I'm just trying to understand the logic here.
I'm just saying that if there is no consquences to the use of weapons in a deathmatch, then it just becomes two guys wacking each other with garbage. If it doesn't look like it hurts them, then why should we as fans get emotionally invested in the outcome of the match? If there's no sense of danger, if there's no drama, then why do you care who wins or loses? - mattwheelchairguy

ToGo
Hopefully a new location (closer to the city) might bring in more people. But if they keep drawing 40-50 folks, then I think you're right.
Since it's a family friendly show, maybe you could make ticket prices for kids 12 and under $5? I doubt a group of parents with three kids would be willing to spend $60, but $45 sounds a lot more reasonable. It'd be three kids for the price of one adult. Just a thought. I want it to be successful too.
Also, I know people say this doesn't work, but you've got to flier the event in a new area. 100 b&w fliers should cost about $10, so if just one person sees a flier and decides to come because of it, you've already made a profit.

if anyone comes up with a design for a promotional poster or flyer, i'm willing to make mass copies next time i go into work. then you don't even have to worry about advertising expense for overhead costs
