After a long night of cleaning up the building and getting things loaded to head home and I haven't yet been to sleep. Let me first of all say that the KOTDM 2011 was a great show in every way. I have read all the posts from everyone as of now. They are accurate in every way about how this years tournament was one of the best IWA-MS has produced. We are very happy with how it all turned out, despite several of the wrestlers not being in attendance. Let me say that Corporal Robinson has been ill and was not able to attend. Corp we hope that you feel better soon. Mickie was booked elsewhere and was replaced before hand. Mickie, we hope to have you at a later date. Dysfunction did show up and did tell me that he didn't want to work with the person that someone told him he was working. Since Corporal wasn't able to attend Dys was going to be paired up with an adequate opponent. Before I could get back to Dys with his actual opponent, he left. Unfortunately, there are several people that don't want to work with selected individuals all over this business. We wish that Dys would have stayed and had participated in the tournament, but he did not. Since both he and Corp were out we put in the Hooligans against each other and they earned that spot and tore the house down. We are proud of the changes that we made and we are proud of our wrestlers that poured their hearts out and bled buckets for IWA-MS. That is what FAMILY does and we certainly have a new FAMILY. KOTDM 2011 had barbwire, hot coals, scaffolding, FBTW, 250 Lighttubes, a Fatal Four Way elimination Final that was unprecedented in IWA-MS and we will proudly put our name on the DVD. If you missed it, you will want this DVD. This show was nothing less than AWESOME. Congratulations to Drake Younger on becoming the 2011 King Of The Death Matches. Drake is the first wrestler to ever win both a TPI and a KOTDM. Drake is a champion and pours his heart and soul into his in ring work every time he steps through the ropes. See you all soon and Thank You to all the wrestlers that participated in this weekends events. We Love You All.

I had a great time this weekend attending KOTDM. Both nights had insanely awesome deathmatches. Glad Drake won. The crowd wasnt huge but was loud both nights. It was a lot of fun.

Can you guys rank the matches? What was the match of each night? Match of the weekend? I've read the great stuff about Simon's first round match. Any differing opinions? Just trying to get more feedback, can't wait to pick up the DVD.

Glad to hear the show was really good. Might get the DVD since I haven't got an indy DVD in a long time. I hope IWA has a show in the Fort Wayne, Indiana area which would be closer for me. If not I might have to make the long trip down to Bellevue. Anyways, congrats to new management on the show and good luck with your future shows

here are some of my favs along with some stand outs from each match. i want to point out that almost every match involved tubes in one shape or another. also, the atmosphere was just great. lots of crowd participation all weekend.
night 1:
freakshow vs grunge - two big guys beat the shit out of each other...freakshow definitely had the crowd won over this weekend. at one point i remember him yelling "how do you like the fat guy who bleeds and stabs people now!?"... crowd popped for that.
simon vs payne - definitely match of the night...crowd was HOT. one of those moments you just had to be there for...bloody as HELL.
cutter vs cutter - these two definitely stepped it up big time.
tremont vs masada - masada beat the SHIT out of him with a toothpick bat. tremont finished the match with toothpicks all over his body...sick shit.
drake vs neil - CRAZY CRAZY CRAZY fbtw match...lots of sick weapons...neil took a bump onto a skewer board and they stuck deep into his lower back. it was pretty fucked up and may have gone a little far...tons of near falls that had the crowd on the edge of their seats.
night 2:
six man tag losers match - lots of fun comedy and an awesome scaffold dive by neil.
bj vs masada
drake vs cutter - lots of log cabins, good stuff.
tremont vs freakshow - fbtw... freakshow beat the hell out of him with a thumbtack bat that had toothpicks sticking out the top of it. he threw the bat like a lawn dart and the entire thing stuck into tremont's lower back by the toothpicks! got one of the biggest pops of the weekend.
finals - it was an absolute brawl all over the venue with tubes. fucking crazy. 250 tubes...what else is there to say? i would probably tie this along with freakshow/tremont for night 2 match of the night.
for the matches i did not list, by no means does this mean they were not good. they were all awesome. these are just what i remember standing out.

Round 1 had so many great matches. Simon Sezz/Payne far exceeded my expectations, that match was insanely bloody. Masada/Tremont was a brutal, terrific match. I thought Neil/Younger was the match of the night, there were so many near falls and a whole bunch of insane spots, i went crazy when Neil got slammed onto that skewer board. The best match of Round 2 was definitely Freakshow/Tremont. They beat the shit out of each other. Mondo vs. Simon was an awesome match, that coffin spot was absolutely crazy. The finals were just insane, so many lighttubes, piles of glass everywhere after that match. Overall I thought it was a great tournament. Awesome start to the return of IWA Mid South.

Can't wait to get on DVD. Me neither, sounds like it was one hell of a show. Who did commentary throughout the weekend?

I was wondering that as well. Also, who did the ring announcing? Did they have a wireless mic again? I always felt bad when the wired mic didn't allow the announcer to get in the ring. Anything to improve the presentation of the new IWA will help a lot. I'm not saying lights, a rotating stage, and a shiny new ring, but having the ring announcer in the ring is pretty basic.

Kirby Alexander was the ring announcer. He's the bald guy who wears the snazzy suits who also was the ring announcer last year. He did a really good job of getting the crowd fired up, especially on night two. He did use a corded mic, but this year, the cord was longer so he did get in the ring sometimes...mostly when it wasn't too dangerous because of the plunder.
As for commentary, it started off with Kirby and Nick Maniwa but after his match, Pinkie Sanchez came out to the table and it looked as though Nick and Pinkie called most of the show. There may have been a few other guests doing commentary here and there, but I'm not sure who was on the mic and who was just watching the show. Also, for most of both nights, BJ Whitmer was at the table, ringing the bell and popping for the craziest spots, which I thought was pretty cool.
