As voted on by you, the fans of IWA East Coast, here are the the first annual IWA East Coast Awards...
Funniest Moment Of The Year
In a runaway favorite this year's award goes to "Necro Butcher vs That Damn Bucket" from the 2008 Masters Of Pain Invitational. It all started when Necro tried to use the bucket on his opponent Juggulator in a Fans Bring The Weapons Match, only for it to backfire. For it's treachery Necro beat the bucket around the South Charleston Community Center in the most vile display of unadulterated violence witnessed by the West Virginia faithful since...well...Tracy Smothers last promo.
But we're not done there, as the bucket ran-in on Necro's next match, against eventual tournament winner Thumbtack Jack, distracting Necro and exacting it's revenge by beating him senseless, therefor quite possibly costing him not only the match, but the tournament as a whole.
Manager Of The Year
By a slim 26 to 21 margin over perennial favorite (and jobber to his own puddle of blood) Woody Numbers, this year's Manager Of The Year Award goes to the lovely, yet silent-but-deadly, Nurse Rinde.
Along with Dr. Max Graves, Nurse Rinde was able to lead The Warpig to a flawless win/loss record in 2008, cementing her place not only in the IWA East Coast record books, but as the missing link to Dr. Graves plan of wreaking havoc on the company as a whole.
Rookie Of The Year
What can honestly be said about the Rookie Of The Year that will do him justice?
Only competing in one show, Thumbtack Jack took not only IWA East Coast, but all of the United States independent wrestling world by storm. Known by very few American fans before this, and only then by YouTube videos, this German deathmatch prodigy was actually a replacement in the 2008 Masters Of Pain Invitational and went on to win the entire tournament, in decisive fashion. Along his way he took down the likes of "The Founding Father Of IWA East Coast" Mad Man Pondo, the three time deathmatch tournament winner Necro Butcher, and Big Japan Wrestling's arguable ace in Ryuji Ito, all while going through fish hooks, panes of glass, and lighttubes of all varieties to do it.
Match Of The Year
In another very slim margin this year's Match Of The Year goes to Roderick Strong vs "The New Horror" Sami Callihan from Oktoberfist. If you're into two people just beating the hell out of each other with their bare hands then this is for you. Both men in their debut for IWA East Coast put it all on the line and firmly secured their place on the 2009 roster with their Ric Flair-esque knife edge chops, and punches and kicks abound all while brawling around the South Charleston Community Center.
Show Of The Year
Was there really any doubt about this one? With an overwhelming 68% of the vote this year's Show Of The Year goes to the 2008 Masters Of Pain Invitational.
Not only a great show in the lore of IWA East Coast, but now widely considered the benchmark of deathmatch tournaments the world over.
This show not only features regulars Mad Man Pondo, Necro Butcher, Juggulator and "Mr. Insanity" Toby Klein, but also up-and-coming hardcore stars Drake Younger and Danny Havoc, a returning former Big Japan Deathmatch Champion in Ryuji Ito, and the breakout debut performance of German star Thumbtack Jack, all composing the perfect mixture for a great evening of blood-splattering goodness.
Star Of The Year
By more than doubling his closest rival in the category, this year's Star Of The Year goes to the "King Of The West Virginia Bar Fighters" himself, Necro Butcher.
It only took Necro three shows to win, but in those three shows he defeated Viper in a Falls Count Anywhere Match, teamed up with Pondo as White Trash to defeat Six Feet Under in a No Rope Barbed Wire Match, and beat Juggulator in the first round of Masters Of Pain in a Fans Bring The Weapons Match before falling to eventual tournament winner Thumbtack Jack (and That Damn Bucket) in the IWA East Coast original Cabin Fever Deathmatch.

Thanks to everyone that voted and hopefully we'll see you all on February 4th for A Need To Bleed 2009!
