Just curious who everyone thinks is gonna win the tournament on Saturday and why.
Personally, I'm thinking that it's gonna be Drakes year to win it. I know that the overall feeling is that Dysfunction is the favorite. First of all, does Dys deserve it? Hell yes, but at TOD Dyd said that he's giving himself two years to win a deathmatch tournament before he gives it up. Would it be sweet and well deserved if he won this tournament? Definitly, but wouldn't it be much sweeter and more emotional if Dys went into next years tournament saying "This is my last deathmatch tournament. I've been doing this for more than a decade. If I don't win it this year, than I'm never going to win it." And how much more sweeter would it be if he won THAT one?
And here's why I think Drake is going to win it. For being considered one of the deathmatch elite, Drake hasn't exactly had the strongest of showings at KODM. I mean look at the matches he's had. In 2006 he had his strongest showing, when no one knew who the heck he was, he beat Die Hard in the first round and lost to JC Bailey in one heck of a match in the second round. In 2007, he beat Fukimoto in the first round, then lost to Dysfuction in the second round. In 2008, HE LOST IN THE FIRST ROUND. For a guy with Drakes reputation, I really think he deserves better than that.

He only lost in the first round in 2008 because he had to get to CZW on Saturday.
I agree though. I'm picking Drake or Dysfunction to win.

Not to nit-pick, but Dys actually said that if he didn't win TOD within two years, he was giving up deathmatches. Of course, at the time, it seemed as though KOTDM was dead for good.
I wouldn't mind seeing it come down to a Drake vs. Dys final with either of them winning it all. For one thing, if Drake comes into this working his "Golden Boy" gimmick then that gives the tournament a heel. And since Dys is sort of part of the Danny Havoc/ Devon Moore/ Scotty Vortekz group in CZW, that gives the finals of this tournament a bit of a story line, so to speak.
I also wouldn't mind seeing Tremont and maybe even Pinkie making a deep run in this tournament.

Masada for the second time and to be the only guy to win TOD and KOTDM in the same year, the second to win them both.

No, Scotty Vortekz won TOD last year, but faced Bailey in the finals. As it stands right now, the only two guys to win both TOD and KODM are Necro and Masada. When you consider the talent that's won a TOD or KODM, (Danny Havoc, Devon Moore, Thumbtack Jack, Drake, Bailey, Vortekz) it's kind of surprising that there haven't been more guys who won both tournaments.
Of course, I can understand the bookers thinking of why they wouldn't want someone winning both tournaments in the same year. If someone just won the competitiors tourney, how would it look if you brought him in and just booked that guy to go over in your tournament?

it's kind of odd that Vortekz has only been in 2 KOTDMs. And in one of them, he was a last minute replacement.

I think Dysfunction will win it. He has been in a lot of these and I think it high time he won one.

Or here's something that's really messed up. If you look at the 4 members of the Naptown Dragons, you've got two TOD winners in Vortekz and Drake, but the one that's come closest to winning KODM is Die Hard Dustin Lee making it to the semi-finals of 2008.

Yeah, that is weird. It should be more like Carnage Cup, which is the exact opposite. Drake has seen the finals and so has Scotty, while Dustin Lee hasn't made it out of the first round. Oh well, I ain't a booker.
