Alright everyone, just wanted to get on here and let everyone know that unfortunately, the show on July 28th isn't going to be happening. While covering all our bases, when applying for the entertainment permit the fire marshal inspection gave us way too low of a capacity number for it to even be feasible to run any kind of a show at the building, much less one of the caliber IWA is known for. We apologize for the late information, but we wanted to make sure all the boys booked for the show were informed of the cancellation before putting it on the Internet. We're not giving up, though... We're still fervently searching for a venue please stay tuned; and if yours still jonesin' for an IWA fix, feel free to join the IWA Midwest board at iwamidwest.proboards.com - IWA MW is still having their comeback show in Bellevue on August 31st!

Well darn, I was really looking forward to the return of IWA MidSouth... Hopefully a more suitable venue can be found soon.... It is unfortunate that the return has to be delayed but I guess you gotta do what you gotta do.

It's a building, how small of a capacity were they allowing? That's rediculous for them to not allow it under some apparent fire rule, unless the building was so tiny you could barely fit the ring in there.

Yes we knew it was small, but we thought we could still get an audience of at least 200... The number we were given was less than that, and you have to figure in the wrestlers and assorted staff. The number was so low because of the placement of the fire exit. Again we apologize.

Yeah true I actually didn't think of that, at around 200 (say as the example figure) the staff and wrestlers must have to make up about 3 quarters of that amount, if not more. Still a shame though.

150 staff and wrestlers? I don't know about that.
To be honest, IWA hasn't drawn anywhere close to 200 since around 2009. I don't mean to be negative, but... well... never mind, I guess. You all know I've been the biggest IWA apologist for the longest time now, but this just seems fishy.

Yeah that's what I meant though, there must be about 150 staff or so, because crowds for Mid South are usually around 50 at most, at least in the last few years. I assume the '150' include people in other parts of the building too, for fire safety reasons. If most of that was assumed to be fans though, it would have to be one hell of an event, with quite some build up and promotion of said event.

complete mickey mouse logic on this one. i take it nothing was ever lined up anyway. im sorry i gotta be that dick head, but I'm going to be one at this point. all I want is one show to go on, and we cant even get that. You guys haven't broke 100 in years, i dont even think there was 100 people at KOTDM last year when i went.
all we want is a show! stop fucking with us. Do your building research before you hype a show and weeks later cancel it. I fucking LOVE IWA, so much that this stuff is making me angry.

I was tempted to actually 'call out' this stuff myself, but last time I did something like that I almost got banned from the message board, but this DOES all seem really suspect, sorry. Mid West is still going but IWA:MS isn't, they use all the same equipment and wrestlers, and the same booker, but aren't the same company/one hasn't essentially become the other? It would seem at this point that any IWA:MS event would only be put on as a tokenistic effort to try and prove the point that Mid South is still a company in and of itself, rather than an actual 'wrestling event' on it's own.

Since every single detail has to be given to you people, or something's 'fishy', 26 wrestlers were booked for the show, 3 referees, so that's 29 people right there. Considering the way the building was made, we had to put the locker room in the same room as the ring, like has to be done in Bellevue. Not to mention people selling tickets, security, commentators, smart mark, merchandise and concessions. With that, the number we were given would have taken us under a hundred for audience. Which, granted, we may not have drawn in a while, but we're not gonna go into a show without even the opportunity to draw. Especially when you have Too Cold Scorpio booked, a carload coming from the east coast, Jimmy Jacobs, just to mention a few. We're not goin to walk into a situation bleeding money ON PURPOSE without even an opportunity to draw what is needed to even pay the bills. The negativity here on this board has got to come down. Vince Jones and Mike Miller have real jobs that keep them to shows needing to be within 2 hours of Louisville. We thought we had a great place that was recommended by someone else, and if you notice the keyword in the initial post regarding this show said 'planning on' and unfortunately plans sometimes fall through. People were chiming in with how IWA MS is dead, how you guys were never informed on any news, so as soon as something came up we got on here to tell you our PLANS, but those PLANS did not go through the way we had hoped. If you think this is not disappointing for us at IWA MS as well as you the fans, you're wrong. We had PLANS to be in this building every first Saturday of the month starting September first, and I'm sure as soon as Vince gets a chance to get on here sometime during his 65+ hour work weeks, he'll be on here too. Trust me, people, we're TRYING. To reiterate, the capacity number given to us would have made it impossible to even come close to making budget. Thanks for your patience, it would be greatly appreciated.

Wel! I hope you are ready to get a show up and running at September. It was sad to hear that the July 28th show fell through. I hope you still looking at somewhere in Chicigo. I have a friend who live in Chicigo and I know he would of loved to go to the IWA Mid South show.

I have been a fan of IWA Mid South since I got a copy of the 1997 KOTDM from a tape trader in the late 90s...
And I, like most everyone else on this board, would love to see the IWA MidSouth return to being one of the current top names in independent wrestling...And while it would be nice to have monthly shows, perhaps it might be more realistic to just plan a couple of shows, like maybe a scaled down version of the TPI, Strong Style Tournament, and/or KOTDM.
For example, IWA EastCoast...In recent years they only do 3-4 shows a year, and take the months December - April off because of weather and the holidays, but since 2009 have been my favorite IWA affiliate and indy fed, because of the QUALITY, and not the QUANTITY of the shows...
So maybe booking a handful of shows to get the ball rolling first, and then build upon that to do monthly shows eventually down the line?
Just thinking out loud a bit, as I am sure running and owning a fed is not as easy as people, including myself, like to think it is...

Got to totally agree on the East Coast thing, not only because Masters Of Pain is arguably the best series of deathmatch tournaments there has ever been (booking, talent, stipulations and not going over the top etc.) but because the East Coast shows do seem to have the best format for a company that only hold a few shows a year. If Deep South and Mid South/Mid West also did this, you could have almost a years worth of great events between them, every year!

It's not as easy to run a show as it seems. Between finding a building, booking the wrestlers, getting the gimmicks together, and everything else, its a HUGE task. I'm in the middle of booking a deathmatch tournament for next year and just for an 8 man tournament it's gonna be roughly two grand, plus it took MONTHS to find a building, IWA Mid South cancelling this show due to building issues shouldn't throw "red flags", you try putting on a show and getting litterally EVERYTHING together, then you can talk. That said, if you need an IWA fix and you're down for a trip, this Saturday is Masters of Pain at Skateland of Campbells Creek in Charleston, West Virginia, and if you can't make it to MOP, IWA Mid West The Next Episode is August 31st in Bellevue, IL...
