Most of the regulars still check this board regularly. We obviously know nothing about these new owners (at least I don't), but a lot of you have been IWA-MS fans for nearly 15 years now, and others, like me, discovered the company during its prime and were able to go forward to the future while looking back on all the greatness that happened at the beginning.
I think this would be a good chance to be able to sound off and share what we, as FANS, would like to see in IWA-MS going forward. Frankly, the new owners don't have to care what we think. It's their company, and they can do whatever they want with it.
Just one fan's opinion, but this is what I'd like to see...
1. Find a place you can run shows consistently.
When shows jump around, it's difficult to establish your "regulars"... the people who come week-to-week/month-to-month. IWA-MS has some of the most loyal and passionate regulars I've ever seen, and many people drive several hours to get to a show. If they were in a consistent location, it would make it that much easier.
2. Test some shows in certain locations before settling on one.
You don't want to take the first building you can find and set up shop there. It could be that the locals don't need a wrestling show, and once it's time to run bigger, better shows, no one will come. Test the market first.
3. Once the market is discovered, establish champions.
It would be a great weekend to have one show to crown Tag Team Champions, and the next night to crown a Heavyweight Champion. I think that's all we'd need to start. Less is more.
4. Keep the TPI's integrity.
Bottom line, the TPI needs to remain as one of the premier independent wrestling tournaments in the country. It's an integral part of IWA-MS's history.
5. Be careful with death matches
They seem to be a little bit on the way out. Whether that is good or bad is up for debate. I just kind of hope that the first show isn't wall to wall with crappy death matches that will get everything off on the wrong foot. I know that's kind of how IWA started to begin with in 1996/1997, but this is 2011. It's all been done before.
I'm sure there are more, but those are the main ones I thought of right now. To the owners, hopefully you're legitimate and you'll introduce yourselves to us soon.
